I'm Leaving the Group
If you really want to read why exactly you can check the most recent public post on my journal itself, but I'm not going to repost it here and clog up people's F-Lists.
The short of the matter is that: I am no longer working for PayPerPost
because I literally cannot find work through them.
I wish everyone the best in their continued endeavors if they are still with the company.
More power to you.

For those who haven't looked at things lately or who don't check the PPP forums you really want to have a look at what's going on with PPPs new ToS. I just found out about it today but apparently it was announced around Labor Day.
There's a huge issue going on right now with many of us so-called Loyal Posties because the wording sounds suspiciously like PPP is trying to control our blogs and what we write on them even though they have no right to do that, or have any say in what we may or may not do blogging for other paid blogging services.
The thread is here: http://boards.payperpost.com/viewtopic.php?t=8189&start=60&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
Granted I'm not even half way through the now 25 page thread on this issue; and am hoping there will be clarification from Ted Murphy or someone else at PPP before I get to the end, but I'm shocked, confused, ticked off (more than a little).
I haven't been able to keep up with PPP things, or any paid blogging for the past week or so because of some personal issues, and I'm saddened to think that a company I have really loved working with/for is screwing things up like this. I'm hoping that this is one of those cases where things have been misconstrued.
If anyone knows anything more about the issue I would love to hear from them.

jkfsdlzjdkls;af!!!!!!! PPP time
I did two posts last night, the second at about 10 p.m. Then I did one this afternoon. When I went to grab a second, (there are a million good ones available) it said I'd already done two today. WHAT?
After much frustration, upsetness and confussment, I realized that it logged me as doing ONE yesterday and ONE today, as 10 p.m. pacific is after midnight PPP time (its eastern, yes?)
That sucks completely!!!! They should do it by the time zone you're in, not by their clock!!!!!!!!!
i want my $7!

I just joined the community. I was delighted to see one on here. I've only been a Postie for a week or so now.
My question is how can we add the PPP Direct to our livejournal? I asked over on the PPP Direct Forum, but no one has answered me. So, I thought I would try here.
I'm using my lj account until my blogspot account has been active 90 days, but I'd really like to have the PPP Direct up and running on here while I wait. Anyone know/understand how we can access the code to be able to add it?
Thanks! Current Mood: curious

This is probably a no brainer.
I've been wanting to change my LJ user name ... but I all of a sudden realized that if I do that, I will probably lose my page rank. Right?

Is this asking too much??
I commented on a few people's journals letting them know that I'd linked to them on my userinfo page and asked if they would kindly do the same. Now I've learned that that isn't nearly as helpful as an actual post with a link. Is anyone willing to do a link post swap?? I would really like to get my google ranking up but I need help!! I'd like to make a post with links for anyone that's willing to do the same :o)

OK, my Myspace blog was approved today for Pay Per Post!! Yay!!
But, I am a little unsure of how this works...
So, I have some questions.:
- Can I take one opportunity twice? As in, one with my LJ and one with my Myspace? Or do I have to choose between the 2 blogs?
- Can I now do 6 PPP's a day? 3 for the Myspace and 3 for this one? Or is it 3 total between the 2? (This still being beneficial as some opps available to LJ may not be to Myspace, and vice versa)
- Can I install the PPP Tools on the blog on Myspace anywhere? Is it customizable, or am I still in the same boat as with LJ?
Thank you to anyone who may be able to help. I wish my Blogger account was over 90 days. I know how to customize THAT one.
Linky Love for Esoteric fans
Looking for some linky-love. I have a section on my PR-2 site Ask Catriona
ask me a question about something esoteric, how tarot works, theories about ghosts, about hyponsis, things like that, and if you're willing to not be anonymous when I answer the question you will get a link back from the PR-2 page.
Along the lines of:
This question from [Name Given] of [Site URL] asks, "One thing that worries me about hypnosis is loss of control...what can you tell me about that?"
When you're hypnotized you're going to be aware the whole time. You're just in a state of relaxation, but...[rest of explanation].
So if you're up for it go to my blog and leave me a question ^^ link backs, pimpage much appreciated if you have people on your FList or readers on a non-LJ blog who you think would be interested in my subject matter, tarot etc.
Hi, I'm new to the community and fairly new to ppp. I signed up a while ago and just never got into it. (It took forever for my blog to get approved). For some reason, I don't qualify for any ops, yet when I look through the open ops, I see that I meet the criteria. How do you get ops?
Also what's up with "get paid to review my post" deal? Has anyone done this?
Any tips for a newbie would be nice too .. Thanks! Current Mood: cheerful

yay! now what?
so i finally got my PR up to 1, exactly (to the day) four months after starting PPP. i even posted the cute like google PR thing in my journal as evidence and to celebrate.
but, uh ... now what?
when I go to my blogs on PPP, it still says N/A for google rank. and i'm not getting any of the PR 1 opps to show up in white or gray. i heard that you have to log out and log back in again to get it to realize that you went up, so i did, but still nothing. how long should i wait for it to register before i complain to them?
PS: thank you to everyone here who traded links with me. without your help, i woudn't have made it. that said, if there's still anyone who hasn't swapped with me, maybe you'll want to now that i'm a shiny 1 instead of a 0.
did i mention yay? cause YAY!!!!!! Current Mood: ecstatic

Feeds/Blog for a Year
I have decided, somewhat late in the game, however to sign up for "Blog for a Year". If you would like to help with the voting you can vote for me here
. I just signed up yesterday so I doubt I'll get anywhere close to winning, LOL 'cause the winner has something like 13000 votes.
Now the potentially helpful to others stuff.
I have been tagged for a "feed your feeds" together meme, which I am going to do and also tag LBM for, so that means there's two sets of people's feeds I can add. To find out about the origin of the meme go to John Cow.com
. When it comes to these memes I'm never sure whose already been tagged, so if you haven't been tagged and you would like to be tagged, let me know.
Also if anyone would like to be tagged for the "Eight Things" meme by a PR-3 site, let me know ^^

You know what really gets me? Taking the time to write an opp EXACTLY as the person wants it (links, anchor text, pic everything), only to have the system say I didn't use the proper link and/or anchor text.
By the time I then open a ticket about it, the opp is not taking any more posts. Anyone know how to deal with this in a more timely manner so as not to miss out on the opp?

I am new to this community (today), but have been with PPP since Feb or March, I don't remember. This community is a great idea, because the PPP forums don't really do it for me with regards to LJ specific questions.
I look forward to getting to know everyone, and would be more than willing to exchange links if anyone is interested. My current PR is 2, which isn't too bad considering that I had a 0 when I started PPP.
I can say that if you are looking for link love, join a meme group (like Thurdsay 13, Wordless Wednesday, or something like that). Those groups usually post all the member links in a blog post, then when you go visit other meme'ers your link usually goes in their post. Plus it helps get some interim posts in there, especially on days when life isn't worth blogging about. LOL

Do blogrolls really help your PR? I've had lots of people agree to trade links with me, and then I post their link both on my userinfo page and in an actual post on my lj. These both come up in a google search as well as on technorati (i know PPP doesn't use it anymore, but I like it because its the only place i ever can see any progress!)
They, on the otherhand, just add my link to their blogroll (the links on the side of their page) and they don't seem to come up in google searches and only one has ever come up on technorati. i still have an n/a page rank!!!!!
technorati says i have 33 links to my blog and i know there are more than that because of at least 5 or 6 that are up on people's blogrolls. how much does it take to get to a stupid 1?
i know i've heard a lot here already (i've only been a member for a day) about how ppp can be hard with lj. but i also know that lj itself is not why i can't get my PR up. i know a few people with higher PRs. One 1, several 2s, a 3 and even someone with a 4!
HOW?!!?!?!?!?!!? A lot of them are people who have no idea what PR is and weren't trying to increase it or anything either.
PS: Does anyone here want to trade links with me? Real post links in addition to blogrolls (if you've got one)?

Hello fellow pppers. :-)
I just found this community and think it's a great idea. I started doing ppp a couple of weeks ago.
Have any of you successfully gotten ppp direct installed on your livejournal? I'm trying but I'm having trouble/don't know if it's even possible. I'd love any advice you may have.

This question will probably seem silly, but I am asking anyway.
My journal meets all the criteria for Pay Per Post, but I only write Friends Only entries. I would imagine that this would get me nowhere if I were to do Pay Per Post entries in Friends Only format, but what about if I did my personal entries Friends Only, and then did the Pay Per Post entries publicly? Should I bother trying?

Stats and Code:
Amount Paid to date from affiliate transactions: $0.00
Amount To Be Paid for 'Review My Posts': $37.50
Total Hits from your badges: 1
Does anybody know when I will be paid? I have four or five people sitting in pending, and I'm assuming that I won't be paid till they make their first post. I don't think they will, which is rather irritating.
lol And I don't want to seem rude when I post 'in order for both of us to be paid, you need to start actually posting w/PPP' ya know?

Tack Rating and Other Things
I figured the easiest way to explain some of the rankings was to screenshot part of my panel so the illustrations were right there. ( My BlogsCollapse )
This is looking in my 'My Blogs' panel. Most of the pertinant rankings are right across from the blog they apply to. Google (PR), Alexa, Technorati. Plus it shows a good comparison of an LJ versus a domain blog and what you can expect.
The disclosure badge is a red 'x' for LJ because LJ is not compatible with the java you need to run the disclosure badge. The Alexa is N/A because as I previously mentioned Alexa doesn't register LJ.
The Google is N/A on my domain because it's stuck at '0' right now and that shows up as N/A. According to PRchecker.info I'm at a '3' again so hopefully that will change soon.
Your tack rating is based on advertisers reviewing your work as a blogger, so that's at the bottom of the panel because it applies to your work overall not per blog. This also means if an advertiser bans you for something they don't like on one blog you won't be able to do work for them on ANY of your blogs.
Mine is a '4' and I've been reviewed by 8 advertisers. I've done 60-odd reviews for PPP, so as you can see the number of ratings I've had doesn't really match up, but it's only in this past month or so that PPP has really been explaining to the advertisers the importance of them reviewing posts bloggers make in the hopes that more of them will rate the bloggers, so they can get a better idea of who is doing a good job and help them therefore improve the system and their quality of reviewers and therefore their appeal as a service. They're hoping that they can attract more 'big name' advertisers and also weed out some of the posties who have just started blogs for the sole purpose of making money and churning out very low quality at a very high quantity.
I think when you're first approved your tack rating starts out as a '3' but I honestly can't remember what mine was when I first started because I wasn't pay attention.
A good way to get a nice tack rating is to go the extra mile with a review, don't go too overboard, but if it's a product or service that you're really interested in or have experience with don't just write the bare minimum requirements. If they ask for one link and 100 words, do a couple of links and 150 words.
I honestly don't really even check the word count while I'm writing. I just write until I come to a stopping point. Most of the time I find I've done almost double the requirement, if not triple if it's only a '50' word opp. So far there's only been once I've had to add more words in after I've been done, because I'd thought it was a 100 word opp and written way too much and saved. It turned out to be 197 words of a 200 word opp.
As for links I try to find something additional on the website that catches my eye and link to that as well. It helps to fit the review in with something I would blog about normally :)
Color Codes in the Opp List
I was just browsing back through dependonyou
and saw lokechild
asking about the color codes on opps. The only color code that really means anything is 'red' which means for some reason, be it PR, tack rating, alexa or technorati score you don't qualify for the opp. White and green mean the opps are open, green just means the advertiser paid a little extra to have the opp highlighted in the listing and hopefully attract more attention.
It's the PPP equivalent of a 'featured' listing.
Also, as a sidenote, I was thinking you might want to either add or change the community interests to reflect things more like: make money blogging, get paid to blog, things like that, rather than things like phones, free stuff, clothes...
